Wild salmon are one of our planet's most important renewable resources and one of the last wild food sources that we can feast on in abundance. Sadly many of the runs in the lower 48 and Canada have been in a state of serious decline as they face threats from degrading habitat and the ever-expanding juggernaut of civilization.
My personal philosophy is that we shouldn't screw with our food sources in a world with 7 billion hungry mouths. It's really that simple. If you stand up and fight for wild fish you are fighting the good fight. You are not only helping to sustain the fish runs themselves, you are also supporting the people who make a living harvesting them.
