Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway
The Earth beneath our feet holds many stories and the fossils in the Earth tell us much about the grand parade of life. Paleontologist Kirk Johnson and yours truly traveled 5,000 miles through the American West on a journey to search for fossils, fossil-finders, and the stories that they tell. This is the cover of our book that tells the tale of that 'epoch' road trip. Every image in this painting is based on real plants or animals from prehistory (except the legendary jackalope). And yes look closely and you'll spot the cheeseburger.
